On Saturday, April 21st, the inaugural Women in Tech Summit in Philadelphia sought to “bring together women from many different facets of the technology industry to inspire, share, learn and connect with one another” and the event did all of that and more.
LauncyCycle was lucky enough to attend and sponsor this summit. The beautiful sunny day begun with a rousing speech from Summit organizers and led seamlessly into the first panel discussion of the day about getting your foot in the door at a tech company.
A couple of takeaways from the event:
– Roughly 90% of the audience’s companies had openings to fill at their firms.
– About 80% of attendees had children at home.
– Only about 5% of attendees were actual programmers or coders. You don’t have to be a coder to be in the tech industry!
There was a definite theme and rally cry at this event: fearlessness. Whether you’re looking for a job in the tech industry or are already well-positioned, you can always do more and learn more. Your only limitation is you.
